Breaking the hearts of his thousands of female fans, Prithviraj, Mollywood’s most eligible bachelor, tied the knot with Palakkad beauty Supriya Menon on Monday.
The youth icon of Kerala married the young BBC journalist in a private function at 11.40 a.m. at Kandath Heritage, a private resort at Thenkurishy in Palakkad.
When DC had first broken the news of Prithviraj’s impending marriage to the Mumbai-based scribe, the actor had rejected it as nothing more than baseless journalism.
On Monday, as our report proved true, his family said he kept quiet because they did not want the news to be published in the media.
“We did not want much media attention and a high level celebrity gathering with Prithvi’s marriage and hence, the ceremony was conducted in a very simple way,” said Poornima, wife of Indrajith, Prithvi’s brother.
Soon after the marriage, the family returned to Kochi but the couple remained at Palakkad with the bride’s family and came to his newly-built house at Thevara only late in the evening.
A grand reception will be organised for the entire film fraternity and the couple’s close friends on May 1 at Hotel Le Meriden in Kochi.
Prithviraj is the son of actor-couple, late Sukumaran and Mallika. He is known for his roles in 'Nandanam', 'Classmates', 'Raavanan' in Tamil and the recently released 'Urumi'.
Supriya Menon, whose family hails from Chandra Nagar, Palakkad, has been working with the BBC World, Mumbai as a business journalist for the past couple of years.
